I want to label my axis with the symbol representing the change in transition state free energy. The standard notation is:
<delta> G <double dagger>
where delta is the capital greek letter, and double dagger looks like two addition signs stacked on top of each other. However, I can't find any fonts that will give me a double dagger. Does anyone know if and how I can get this symbol?

Hi,

Just a general comment - if you have Origin 7.0 or higher, when you are editing a text label (in-place editing mode), you can press CTRL-M, or right-click and select Symbol Map. This will bring up the Symbol Map dialog, where you can use the font drop-down list to view all available fonts, and then look at what is available in each font. If you then click on any one font character, the key code, such as the ALT+0135 that Mike mentions above, will be displayed in the dialog next to the font drop-down list.

Hi Shahram,

I think what you are looking for is a way to insert Origin plot symbols in your labels? You can do that by getting this free font download from our File Exchange area:
http://www.originlab.com/FileExchange/details.aspx?fid=42
Once this font is added to your system, you can use the Symbol Map dialog I described above, then pick Origin font from the font drop-down and select any of the included Origin plot symbols to insert.

Hi shahram,

The Origin font works in Origin 6.1 and earlier but it's not as simple to use as it is in later versions. This is the easist method that I am aware of...

1. Write your text label and leave a space for the Origin symbol.
2. Change the font to Origin and then insert the symbol from Window's Character Map.
3. Highlight the remaining text and select your normal font.

It's a bit cumbersome but works nonetheless.

\f:Times New Roman(Sheet Resistance (\g(W)/\f:Origin("")))
\f:Times New Roman(Sheet Resistance (\g(W)/\f:Origin(")))
I tried this one also, however, I could not add ( ).
\f:Times New Roman(Sheet Resistance) \g(W)\f:Times New Roman(/)"

I could not get what I wanted.

Hi Shahram,

So you want to see the brackets ()? That was harder than I anticipated but finally got them. As I said above it's much easier in Origin 7.0 or later.
