Hi, I am attempting to create a surface plot of a data set consisting of random X,Y values whose Z values are only slightly correlated. In converting the worksheet data to a matrix, all of the Random methods fail miserably (the interpolated points end up orders of magnitude away from the data), and when I grid the data to apply the Sparse conversion, much of the data is abandoned. I'm still learning the program (version 7) but I've tried every trick I can think of, so any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks.

Hello,

Random conversion methods (such as Correlation, Renka-Cline) could be used when your x, y values are scattered and not regularly spaced. Sparse conversion is suitable where the x, y values are regularly spaced, but some x, y pairs are missing.

Not clear how your data is organized. Please contact tech support by sending your data/OPJ to tech@originlab.com for further help.
