Hi,
I have a simple line+symbol graph with 5 layers. The layers are linked to Layer 1 via the Top X Axis (Straight 1 to 1 link). I am having problems getting grid lines to show up. When I call up the Grid Lines dialog box and check the Major Axis, Minor Axis, and Apply To boxes, nothing happens. Also, I notice that when I go back to the Grid Lines dialog box (after closing it), the Apply To box is no longer checked. Any suggestions? Thanks. |

Hi jjaques1:
What version (and service release) of Origin are you using? You are saying that you cannot get grid lines to show in any layer?
I tried this with Origin 7.5 SR4 and there is a problem with retention of the Apply To check box/drop down setting, but it didn't appear to affect the display of grid lines.

Mike,
I am using 7.5. I cannot get the Apply To box to remain checked, and I cannot get grid lines to display on any layers. Do you have an example of this being done that you can send me, perhaps?
Thanks. |

Hi jjaques1:
The non-retention of the Apply To check box setting shouldn't affect the display of grid lines. I don't particularly like the way that this works, but after talking this over with a co-worker, we agreed that this combination of check box and drop-down works something like an Apply button -- you check the box, choose what to apply grid lines to (the layer, all layers, all windows), and when you click OK or Apply, your settings are applied. So, when you reopen the Axis dialog, you correctly see that the Apply to box is unchecked and the drop-down list is grayed out (and reads "This Layer").
I rather think you have another problem -- one that I cannot reproduce with either 7.5 SR0 or 7.5 SR4. We could go back and forth, but it would be best if you drop a line to tech@originlab.com and explain your problem. Include your Origin serial number, your Origin build number (SR), which operating system you use, and attach your Origin graph (*.OGG) or Project file (*.OPJ). When you do so, be sure to reference this forum post. Thanks.
