Origin Version (Select Help-->About Origin): 7.5 SR4
Operating System: Win2000

Hi,

Simply opening the advanced fitter outputs this message (NULL curFuncPtr) twice to the script window. Why does this happen and can it be ignored? If it can be ignored then can it be switched off?

Hi Pete,

I can reproduce those messages like this...

1. Close Origin and open NLSF.ini in notepad.
2. Under the NLSF Control section remove the value for Function Group, i.e.,

[NLSF Control]
Function Group=

3. Start Origin and open the NLSF fitter.

That opens the fitter with no function selected and results in the messages you described. If I select a function from some function group and then close/reopen the fitter the messages do not reappear. (If I reopen NLSF.ini I find that the name of the chosen function group was saved.)

If you see those messages every time you open the fitter then perhaps Origin cannot write to your NLSF.ini. Does that file even exist on your User path?
