Origin Version (Select Help-->About Origin): 6.0 SR4 Operating System: Windows XP Home SP2
Hi, I'm trying to digitize a graph: http://www.uaf.edu/water/staff/busey/origin/graph.jpg
Using the digitizer seems to work fine except for a couple of things:
1) the new line is similar but different 2) extra points that I didn't click appear on the digitized plot. For example, the y-axis on the graph goes from 0.3 to 1.0 but the digitizer plots points from ~0.27 as you can see in the digitized version of the plot: http://www.uaf.edu/water/staff/busey/origin/Graph2.jpg
Possibly complicating the situation is that the y-axis is non log and the x-axis is log10 but I saw in the comments for the utility that someone had had good luck with log plots. Does anyone have any thoughts on this or am I maybe out of luck? Thanks

Hi,
One thing I noticed with your graph image is that it is rotated - axes are not perfectly horizontal/vertical. The digitizer tool cannot deal with this and it assumed that the axes are perfectly aligned. So first you may want to bring your image into some other image editing application (such as say Paint Sho Pro) and rotate it to properly align the axes, then save the new image and then try digitizing that again in Origin. The Log scale should not be a problem - the digitizer tool can handle that.

Hi Easwar, Thanks for the quick reply. I forgot to mention, I tried rotating last night without success but I did try again this morning and here's a new plot. http://www.uaf.edu/water/staff/busey/origin/Graph2_nolog.gif
This plot has both the x-axis and the y-axis shown as type Linear rather than the x-axis being Log10. If you ignore the x value and just look at the shape of the curve it looks like the original image I digitized (the line is for the alpha = 0.2 line on graph.jpg). So, I was thinking, if there were a way to look at the values Origin is storing for the points I'm clicking on maybe that would be an acceptable work around (I'd do the extra math myself to convert to log) but the value from: draw2_b(1) = entered into the script window doesn't really look like a value that corresponds with what I see on the graph. Do you have any other thoughts? Thanks

Hi,
I tried the graph you just posted and I was able to digitize it correctly. I used Origin version 7.5SR5 and the latest digitizer download, but I think the Origin version should not matter. I suggest you call/contact tech support to sort this out, if you cannot get the same result.

Here's an image of the Origin graph that I created by digitizing your image:
