Origin Version (Select Help-->About Origin): 7.5 SR 5
Operating System: XP

I am trying to import ascii files using the import wizard in version 7.5. It seems that the wizard can only handle up to 10 header lines and is unable to cut off or use any more header lines.
If any one of you knows how to be able to use the wizard with more lines, pls let me know.
Thanks,
Christian

Hi Christian,

In my experience the IW has no problems recognizing more than 10 header lines. And you can always enter a number in the dialog. What particular problem do you have?

Hey Mike,
yeah, you are correct, one can just put any number in the dialog -- and everything works fine. I thought 10 lines was the maximum because it only displays numbers from 1 to 10 in the pulldown menu.
Thanks for your help!

Christian, there are three ways to use those Import Wizard (IW) combo boxes:
  • Type in the number.

  • Pick the number from the drop-down list (list is limited to 0 - 10).

  • Specify the number "graphically" by clicking on the appropriate line in the IW Preview box, then clicking the "update" button (next to the combo box).

Don't forget -- When you are in an Origin dialog box, pressing the F1 key opens the Origin Help file to a discussion of control-by-control use of the dialog box. This works for any page in the IW.
