Origin Version (Select Help-->About Origin): Origin 7 SR1
Operating System: WinXP
Dear Colleagues and/or Support Team,
I need a good quality figures for publication (1200 dpi eps or tiff). Ufortunately I can't export an Origin graph with such a resolution. Origin suggests 600 dpi maximum. What can be done? How do you solve this problem? I've looked through the forums and found out that a similar problem has been reported for all earlier versions of Origin. Is it still not fixed?

EPS is a vector format and, therefore, "dpi" settings have no application. The primary strength of EPS (and other vector graphics formats) is that they can be scaled without a loss of image quality.
As for a 1200 dpi TIFF file, Origin 7 really doesn't support this. You might be able to pull it off, but more than likely you'll encounter the limits of your desktop system. The problem is that doubling the resolution of a raster file increases file size by 4 times. A full color, 1200 dpi TIFF file is going to run into the hundreds of MB in size.
If you having trouble producing your figures, you might try OriginLab's web-based graphic export server:

An additional information...
In the latest service release of Origin 7.0,
which is SR4, 1200dpi dropdown selection item
was added to the list, or also you can type
the dpi value. You can download this from:

One method I am using is...
copy the graph into word or powerpoint file
and make PDF file from them..
Many journals accept figures in PDF format...
In this case, you do not need to worry about resolution or size of files...

If you have Origin version 7.0 SR1 or higher, you can export to PDF directly from Origin.
