When your formated graph is active, pick Origin menu: File -> Save Template As. Then accept default file path/name and click "Save" button.

May I ask how to change the default when creating a plot out of data directly? The method from Leo_Li works only for creating an empty, new graph and dragging data into it. However, I have a workbook with data and plot a Line Graph. The resulting graph is always without the upper and right axis. However, I always want the upper and right axis. How can I make this default?

What Leo replied is about how to customize one graph type and save it as graph template and plot with it.

If you want to change font, axis frame, etc. for all graph types e.g. no matter scatter, line, etc., then please use Graph Theme.
https://www.originlab.com/doc/Quick-Help/Customization-using-ThemeOrganizer

1. Choose Preference: Theme Organizer...
2. On Graph tab, select All Axes One row and Ctrl+ select Times New Roman Font row, right click and choose Combine.
3.Right click Combine and choose Edit... Change Times new Roman to the font you want. Right click Global node and select Add -> Size. 22 shows by default. Change the size to 48, etc.
Click Save.
4. Right click Combine and rename it as e.g. All Axes On_Font_48.
5. Right click it and choose Set as System Theme.
6. Click OK to close the dialog.

Now when u plot 2D graph, such system theme will be applied to it, so u will see all axes on with specified font and size.

If you didn't set it as System theme, then in the future, u can open this dialog and select the theme, then click Apply Theme to to apply it to current graph or other graphs.

Thanks, Snow
