Origin Version (Select Help-->About Origin):
Operating System:

Hi,

Could you please help me to do the linear fitting by Origin?

Each data point for Y variable has an error bar, I would like to get the error bar for the fitted slope.

Thank you

Eric

Hi,

1> Set up the worksheet columns as X, Y, Yerr
2> Highlight Y, Yerr cols and create a scatter plot showing the error bars

3a> From Analysis menu select Fit Linear
The fit results will be in the Results log window - the standard error on slope and intercept parameters can be found there

OR

3b> Bring up the Linear Fit dialog using the Tools->Linear Fit menu item
4> Check the "Error as Weight" checkbox on Operations tab
5> Click the Fit button - again results in Results Log
