Origin Version (Select Help-->About Origin): 7.5SR5
Operating System: Windows XP (SP2)

If you have two worksheets, make a ternary plot based on one of them, then on the ternary plot, press "Alt" and double click the layer icon (open the layer dialog window), now add the column C of the other worksheet, you will find you cannot group these two series of data. Besides, after click OK, you will find the newly added data were plotted as 3D scattered line.

Any solutions to this problem?

Thanks in advance!

This looks like a bug, I cannot get this problem on 7.5SR0.

Hi,

Thank you for reporting this bug. The tracker number is QA#7920.

For now the following is a work-around:
1> Use the Plot Setup dialog (double-click on layer icon) instead of the Layer dialog to add the other plots. Note that you will need to expand the dialog to show all three panels and then select the other worksheets one by one in the top panel and check the X, Y, Z boxes in the middle panel and click the Add button to add them to the layer in the bottom panel
2> Close the Plot Setup dialog and then bring up the Layer Dialog (alt-double click on layer icon) to group your data plots

Another problem:

If the worksheet is empty, highlight the columns and make a ternary plot, the X and Y axises will have increment of 0.2 while Z axis has an increment of 0.25. However, if the worksheet is not empty, all axises will have an increment of 0.25.

Old problem, labels for X-axis will be smaller than those for the other two axises.

Hi Tantiger:

I see what you are reporting: the default ternary graph template was apparently saved with a different increment on the Z axis. I also see that the template was saved with a slightly smaller (18pt vs 20 pt) X axis tick label.

Note, however, that to correct this, all you have to do is to make your changes in the graph and resave the template as File:Save Template as > TERNARY.OTP (save it to your default User Files location). The next time you go to use the template, your changes should be there.

Thank you for your comments.

FYI, I did update the ternary template source file, so these formatting inconsistencies will not appear in Origin 8.
