Origin Version (Select Help-->About Origin): 6
Operating System: XP

Apologies if this is a dumb question from a newbie:

I want to be able to make multiple plots on the same graph, where the original graphs+worksheets are in different Origin Projects (I have inherited these Projects from colleagues; some of these Projects have many Worksheets/Graphs within them).

I know how to combine plots if they are in the SAME Project, so what I'd like to do is to make a new Project (my destination Project) and move into it the two or three Worksheets/Graphs that I want to combine. But so far I can't see a direct way to move a Worksheet and Graph from one Project to another Project. I have found two indirect and rather clumsy ways, which are:

(a) COPY DATA OUT OF ONE WORKSHEET: Make a new Worksheet in the destination Project; copy the data out of the source Worksheet/Project and paste it into the new one; then make a new graph/plot of the data in the destination Project; then repeat this process for another other graphs I wish to put into the destination Project; then combine them in one graph.

(b) APPEND PROJECT: Make a duplicate copy of the source Project; delete out of this copy Project all the the Worksheets/Graphs that I DON'T want to sent to the destination Project; Append this edited Project to the destination Project; then repeat this process for another other graphs I wish to put into the destination Project; then combine them in one graph.

I hope there is a better way...?

A variation of b) should work...

1. Open or create a destination project.
2. Append a source project and answer yes when asked "Do you want to create a new folder for the appended project?".
3. Move worksheets and plots out of new folder.
4. Remove folder and save destination project.

Alternatively, you can save worksheets as OGW files and graphs as OGG and append the windows to a new project.

Mike - thanks for that very helpful and fast reply. I understand your "variation on (b)" method - definitely better than what I was doing.

The other method sounds even better, but I can't find how to make it work:
>>Alternatively, you can save worksheets as
>>OGW files and graphs as OGG and append the windows
>>to a new project.

I saved one graph as an .OGG, and a worksheet as an .0GW, but when I go to FILE:APPEND, and try to select from FILES OF TYPE, the dropdown menu only offers me two file types, .OPJ and .ORG , so I can't view the .OGG and .OGW files, so I can't select them to append them.
Am I doing something wrong?

I think I just found how to get around my APPEND question, but I'd appreciate comments:
>>FILE:APPEND, and trying to select from FILES OF TYPE,
>>the dropdown menu only offers me two file types, .OPJ and .ORG , >>so I can't view the .OGG and .OGW files, so I can't
>>select them to append them.

What I've found is that if I ignore the fact that it says .OPJ file type, and only displays the .OPJ files in that directory, and if I know already the name of the .OGG or .OGW file I want to append, then if I type the name in the box then it does then display the .OGG or .OGW files, and allows me to APPEND them. This seems to work ok, but I guess this is a bug that won't allow me to select and browse for file types other than .OPJ ...?

My mistake... For window files use File > Open, not File > Append.

...Cautionary note: graph files also contain datasets for the curves. If you save a worksheet and a graph of that worksheet and open both in another project you'll get two copies of the same data. (One in the worksheet and one as unattached datasets.) It can be rather confusing.
