Hello there,

I am using origin 2017,

I am trying to fit a curve in my box plot but cannot find a way to do it.
FYI, I have already tried connecting line option under plot details but that only connects points such as mean values to each other and that is not what I want.
I basically need to fit a curve and then extract the curve equation and talk about the rate of change in my data.

Does anyone have a clue?

Best,
Ali

Hi Ali,

I suppose you hope to perform curve fitting on the mean line of the box plot. If so, you should extract the mean line data from the source workbook of the box plot at first:

1. Calculate the mean value of every box by Mean function, for example:
If the first box is plotted using the data of column(B), in Origin 2018 you could enter function “=mean(col(B))” in any blank cell to get the mean value of column B; in Origin 2017 and before version you could enter the function “mean(col(B))” in the F(X) row

2. Extract the mean value of every box using the method above
3. Perform curve fitting on the mean value dataset

Regards,
Yuki
