Origin Ver. and Service Release (Select Help-->About Origin): 2017, SR1
Operating System: Windows 10
I have a plot with five different traces on it, and I would like to fit a section of the data to a function. Using the data markers (by clicking the button that looks like: |M|), I can select the region that I want for the first trace and fit that selection. If I click on my second trace and try to add data markers by clicking |M| again, it still puts the data markers on the first trace. How can I put data markers on a different trace?

Hi,
To change which of your traces to add the Data Markers to go to the Data main menu and "activate" a different plot from the list at the end of the menu.
I hope this helps.
BTW- If you are using the same fitting function on the same X range for every trace, then try this:
1. From the Window menu, choose Command Window.
2. In the Command window, enter the following and hit the Return key:
@DOR=1;
3. Now set the Data Makers on your first trace and perform a fitting.
4. Notice the green lock icon on the graph.
5. Left-click on the lock icon and look for "Repeat this for all plots".
6. If it is there, click on it.
Notice that the exact same fitting was performed for each trace using the same X range as you originally specified for the Data Markers on the first trace.

Hi Chris,
Thanks for the suggestion, but that doesn't appear to work either. The check mark in the menu moves to the different trace, but the data markers are still stuck on the first trace. Is there something else that I should try?
Right now I'm work with a different x range for each trace, but I'll keep that second tip in mind for the future.

After moving the data markers to the correct locations, do you double-click to "set" them?
After fitting, do they turn into little magenta up-down arrows set on the actual trace?

Ah, I got it now. I have to activate the trace before adding the data markers. I can't move them to a different trace after pushing the |M| button.

| Hi Chris, I did exactly what your described as well but I don't get the little magenta up and down arrows you mentioned. What do you think the problem is? |
