Origin Version (Select Help-->About Origin): 7.5G
Operating System: XP

Hi,
I have a quite basic question but couldn't find a solution in the forum.
Everytime I start the program I get the message
"preparing origin for the first start, compiling origin C file".
That way it takes about 5 min every time to start the program. Why does origin do that? Are there any settings that I need to change?

Thanks, Franziska.

When Origin first starts it does compile a number of Origin System files and saves the results into a folder in your User folder. It sounds like you do not have write privileges to your User folder or the path is failing because you chose a non-mapped UNC network drive.

Open the Script Window (under the Window menu) and type

%Y=

and press Enter. If the path shown should be on a network and is not a mapped drive then that is the problem. If you do not have write access to that path then that is the problem.

You can change your path by typing the following in the Script Window

del -path

and press Enter. Respond Yes to the dialog and shutdown and restart Origin. Select your user path given the two issues above.
