Origin 2016 (64 bit) and Service Release SR2 Operating System: Windows 10
Is there a way to put a bar or dot above a text character? I think I asked about this long ago (although I could not find it in search) and the answer was "no", but I wonder if it might have been implemented.
After Origin 2018, you can enter Unicode easily. You just need to enter the Unicode 4-character hex code sequence (e.g. 03B8 for θ) and press ALT+X to convert. You can add combining over line (0305) and combining dot above (0307) this way as well. Please check this blog for details. http://blog.originlab.com/graphing/easier-way-to-enter-special-characters-in-origin-2018
We have We have escape sequence to do this \ab(text) -- Display a bar above text. \ad(text) -- Display a short line - a dot - above text. \at(text) -- Display a tilde above text.
Thanks for your reply on this sometime ago. It was helpful. Now I would like to know if there is a code for setting a hat (^) above a letter or symbol?

Hi, there is not an escape sequence for hat. so, in your version of Origin (2016) you will have to search the Symbol Map to find the character you seek.
