Origin Ver. pro 2016 and 2018b (from university)
Operating System:Windows 10

hello,

I have data for the scattering length density (SLD) from some x-ray reflectivity experiments and the SLD plots just fine, but when I try to plot the derivative of this graph (by Analysis->Mathematics->Differentiate (1st order)), the result is entirely blank. Back in the worksheet, the new column created starts with a zero for the first value and fills in the remaining cells with " -- "
I have also tried doing it directly from the worksheet, and using the differentiate gadget on the graph. The result is the same. I have attached an image illustrating the problem.

I have managed this before with other datasets so I don't know what is wrong with this one.
Can anyone explain what might be wrong / how I can plot the derivative of the SLD data?

Thank you very much

Hi,

This is because your x column contains duplicated values. To remove duplicates, please use menu Worksheet: Remove/Combine Duplicated Rows....

Thank you
James
