Good morning everyone,
I'm trying to fit some data coming from a Cytotoxicity assay using Nonlinear curve fitting. Apparently, BiDoseResp function (category Growth/Sigmoidal) is the more suitable for my set of data. Reading a bit around, I found many works that use multiphasic dose-response curve to fit data coming from Cytotoxicity assay, therefore I'm pretty confident this is a good function to fit my data as well. However, before really going for it, I would like to double check where the equation that Origin provides come from. I tried to look for some reference directly on Origin website, but I couldn't find any. Is there anyone that could help me to find where this equation comes from?
Thank you for your help, Simone |

Hi Simone,
We do not maintain references to our fitting functions. Many of the functions have been around for a long time, and new functions we add are typically based on requests from users like you. A user may simply provide us with the equation and not necessarily a reference.
Also the same function name could have variations from one reference to another. As an example, we have several definitions of the Gaussian function, as users want the variation that works best for them.
We cannot decide for you if BiDoseResp is the appropriate function for your Cytotoxicity assay. That is best decided by you, and you may perhaps want to post on ResearchGate or some other venue to confirm if it is appropriate.
BUT we can help you create a variation of that function, if you find that our definition is not quite what you need.
We recently introduced a Fitting Function Library App: https://www.originlab.com/fileExchange/details.aspx?fid=490 so we can add more functions, and more variations to this library. Then as a user, you can browse this library using the App and download only the functions you really need. This way we do not have to include every possible function and their variations in the product itself.
Once you decide what function form you need, and if it is different from our implementation of BiDoseResp, please let us know and we can add to the library.
