Hi
I'm working with data captures from sensor arrays. I might have up to 50 sensors in an array and data capture csv files could have several hundred thousand (or more)samples each.
I want to plot line graphs and display 50 to 100 samples at a time on a screen and scroll back and forth through the complete file looking for patterns.
Can I do that in Origin? (I have a lot of other ways i want to look at the data but this is the most important.

Thanks for the suggestion. I'll check it out. But my question was a little different so let me try to do a better job of explaining.
I capture data from up to 50 sensors for periods ranging from a few hours to 24 hours at a capture rate of 10 samples per second. So at most a single file might contain around 1 million sequential entries, each with 30 to 50 values, from sample 1 to sample 1,000,000. I'd like to wind up with a million-sample long chart with 30 to 50 lines, one line per sensor.
Obviously it isn't practical to display a million-sample time series on my monitor so what I want to do is to display some number of samples on a screen (maybe 100 or 200) and scroll through the file scanning for a pattern that would indicate an event has occurred. Having identified an event I want to be able to put it in a "window" and scan for additional events putting each one in a separate window or pane so I can look at them and make comparisons. We're doing this as part of a study to determine the best way to automate the process of event detection.

Hi Jim,
Yes, we can display multiple channels over a select slice of time and then use mouse and some keys such as X and Z to pan and zoom. Also the plots can be offset in Y, and there are tools such as Vertical Cursor to mark/tag particular events and save the x and y values of the channels to a separate worksheet.

| I can confirm that Browser Graph can be really useful in handling similar tasks, based on my own experience! Regarding the use of multiple channels, do you think it would be worth writing a tutorial or doing one on Youtube, rather than personally contacting every user who needs it? |
