Origin Ver. and Service Release (Select Help-->About Origin): originpro8
Operating System: win10

Hi guys, I am working on a big data quantity. My book is composed by 600 columns where each column describes a specific curve. After the creation of a graph which contains all 600 curves, I need to apply a Smoothing procedure in order to remove the noise.
So I am doing this procedure for each curve : 1) Analysis- 2)Smoothing (Savitzky-Golay method, 200 points and second polynomial order) 3) Apply.

So is possible to select all data of my book and apply the smoothing to all data in only one step?
ThanK you so much.

C.

Hi,

It isn't possible to smooth all in one step. In newer versions of Origin, you can smooth 1 XY pair then repeat the same smoothing for all other Y columns in the current worksheet. So that much is automated.

You can download a trial of our latest version, Origin 2021, and give it a try.

ok, Chris.

But When I select my data and I choose the Savitzky-Golay method I obtain this error: Warning! The X input data are not evenly spaced. S-G method requires the X data to be evenly spaced. The result may not reliable.

I don't understand what does it mean.

Thanks.

and, also, I need to select 200 point of window for my smoothing, but I don't obtain the green lock as you said. How can I do it?

Thanks

Are you using the demo of the latest version as I suggested? Origin 8 is ancient and probably doesn't have the features mentioned.

It has been my personal experience that using the SG method with unevenly spaced X data hasn't seemed like an big issue. That being said, it probably depends on the data and i just haven't come across a datset where a problem arises.
