Hello everyone,
I've got a problem concerning the surfaces when plotting a 3D chart (I've already searched for this problem but I've found nothing useful). The problem is that Origin creates surfaces where there should be none (see image).

I've marked the relevant regions in the picture. For these regions there are no values in my data sheet so they should be white (or non existing), but they still appear when plotting the data. Other types of 3D plots do not work either. It seems like Origin creates mesh grids between different data points and I don't know how to prevent his.

Thanks for your help!

Hi,

ORigin uses some Triangulation algorithm to make 3D plot from xyz data so you see those unwanted area are filled with color by interpolation.
https://www.originlab.com/doc/Origin-Help/Create-Contour-Graph#Triangulation.

You may need to specify a custom boundary in the Contouring Info tab of Plot Details dialog of the graph. To extract the boundary line, you can try this app in on your xy data.
