Hello everybody,

This is my first post, so be nice :)

I have a simple sine-shaped curve, representing a path (picture 1)

The velocity at this path changes constantly. I now want to represent these velocities by a color gradient of the connections between the points. How can I do this?

I imagine the finished diagram something like this, picture 2

I also find a 3D illustration very interesting, e.g. something like this, picture 3.

but would also like here the representation over colors, in order to be able to recognize the values better.

Unfortunately a 3D surface diagram results in a surface, but I only have a distance. Thus, this representation is not correct. picture 4

Does anyone have any ideas?

Hi,

You can set the line color mapping to a third column in the Plot Details dialog.
Double click on your Line+Symbol plot to open the Plot Details dialog. Set it as below.

If you have set the third column as Z (right click on the column and select Set as: Z), you can create a 3D Line graph by menu Plot> 3D: 3D Line.
Then show the symbol, change the color and show dropline as below:

Thanks,
Amanda
