Origin Ver. and Service Release: OriginPro 2020 (64-bit) SR1
9.7.0.188
Operating System: Windows

Hi,

I would like to add a gap in the horizontal axis in a population plot (see arrow on attached image). Does anyone know if it is possible?

Thanks!

Could you set the spacing to a subgroup by a column?

That would be great! But how do you get the subset column?
I don't see that part in my plot properties

Hello,

That feature was added in Origin 2022.

Could you update your Origin?

Thanks!
Now I updated, but the feature is "blocked".. maybe because I have several subsets and already used a horizontal panel..

Any other suggestions? :-)

Maybe insert empty rows to your data? see below

If still doesn't work, could you share your project file?

Please check the attached project file. You can set all columns to Y, and make the population diagram, the 2 columns of Ys will be plotted against the row number.

Another workaround is add an axis break from 9.45 to 9.55 (the range should be very close to 9.5) so that it will not remove any plots.

Then click on the break on left and right side respectively and use mini toolbar to make the gap big and break symbol to plain.

There is a gap on left axis. Is it OK?
See the attached opju.

Thanks, Snow

Hi,
Another simple solution,
1. you can set all X column in worksheet to be Y, then plot population plot, so X will be autoX, so you do not need to set panel to get bars side by side.
2. Set subset by column E(Type) and gap between subsets=10 for both plots. So you do not need axis break for such case.
3. set tick label with 1 row table, display type is tick indexed dataset, dataset name is column B(Maker). In the end of table tab, select Gap between subgroups/subsets. It will add gap to table.
See the result in attached project.

Thanks
Cecilia
