Origin Ver. and Service Release (Select Help-->About Origin): OriginPro 2024 (64-bit) SR1 10.1.0.178 (Trial)
Operating System: Windows10

Hi everyone,
just downloaded OriginLab so pardon if my question is trivial.
I have a three columns datasheet: first two cols are x-y positions, third col is speed associated with each position.
I need to plot a scatterplot with each x-y point coloured based on speed and according to a reference colorbar.
How can I do that?
Thanks in advance!!

Hello,
You can highlight all 3 columns and choose Plot: Basic 2D: Color Mapped.
You can double click the plot and use mini toolbar to customize the colormap further.

See https://www.originlab.com/doc/Origin-Help/Color-Mapped-Graph

Thanks, Snow

Hi,
thanks for fast reply.
I did it but:
- how can I show the associated colormap on the figure?
- if I select a different color list from the dropdown menu, I can see only a limited range of colors, i.e. the colorbar does not adapt automatically to the min and max values I have in my data file. How can I fix this?

Thanks a lot!

Hello,

1. You can add a color scale:
https://www.originlab.com/doc/en/Origin-Help/ColorScale#Adding_a_color_scale_to_a_graph_of_color_mapped_data

2. You can edit the Levels in the Plot Details:
https://www.originlab.com/doc/Origin-Help/PD-Dialog-ColorMap-Tab

Best,
Chao
