Origin Version: OriginPro 2024 (64-bit) SR1
Operating System: Windows 10

I’m trying to insert a plot (graph) created in Origin and saved as an SVG file into a Microsoft Word document (Office 365). Everything seems fine, but after saving the document as a PDF, only the plot lines in the graph are rasterized, while other things (scales, etc.) remain vectorized. This leads me to believe that the issue may not be with Word.

P.S. The SVG image is displayed correctly when opened in Inkscape.

Hello sjil,

When I open the documents, everything is congruent between SVG viewer and Word.

1. Can you share a screenshot of the problem in Word?

2. Have you verified you are using the most recent version of Office 365/Word?

Let me know, thanks!

Best,

Hi Nicholas,

In the Word document, everything looks fine, but when saving (not printing) the Word document as a PDF with the embedded SVG graph, the graph appears in low quality in the PDF file (uploaded in the previous link).

Thanks for replying,
Stepan

Hello again,

After using Word to export some other SVGs of various types and sources, I think this issue is related to how Word encodes PDFs. While Inkscape and Adobe Illustrator are both able to export SVGs with proper rasterizations, the same files lead to a pixellated PDF after they are passed through Word for PDF export.

Let me know if you find any more information and I will provide updates if I find any solutions.

Best,

Nicholas G.
