Hi everyone, I'm dealing with a Scanning Electron Microscope image containing a microstructure with multiple grains and I computed the area of this grains with the intent of plotting an histogram of the equivalent diameter. Everything went good so far and now I want to add a distribution curve on top of the histogram (which, by the way, is in counts vs diameter(nm)). If I go on "Plot details" I can add the distribution curve by selecting the appropriate distribution function and that's easily done. I also found on internet that another way of doing so is plotting the counts for each bin class and fitting a function on the resulting scatter plot. However, If I select the same fitting function, the new curve differs a bit from the one computed automatically using the "Plot Details" tab. How come so? There must be a difference in the way the curve is created using the two methods but the one computed by "Plot details" is a bit of a black box to me so I don't know which of the two should I prefer.

Hello,

Could you share an opju file with sample data and the different distribution curves? This is the easiest way to see what's happening.

The distribution curve added on top of a histogram is used to get a visual overview of your data. It is probably better to look at a distribution curve for the raw data.
