Origin Ver. 2025(64bit) and Service Release 10.2.0.188
Operating System: Win11

I am trying to use the wextract-X-function for data analysis from LABTalk-Skript.

- First I tried to do analysis on my own data and caused a series of program breakdowns. Due to our it-security (firewall) Orgin was not able to send reports.
- Then I strictly stayed to an programming example given in the X-Function help file. Still Origin shuts down (and is not able to send a report).
- At last I went to another Origin user in my company and tried the same example on her computer (the 1st example from the X-funstion help file) and it works. Origin Installation was done frome the same setup-File! We use same version of software.

- Finally, I decided to Repair my installation and used the setup file. No Success! Wextract function always causes Origin to breakdown on my computer if I run it from Labtalk Script-Window.

If I use the built in Menu-Worksheet-Extract data from worksheet Button everything works as it should....

Is there anything I can do?

Could you try the steps on this FAQ page to reset the User Files Folder, see if it resolves the issue? Thank you.

Sorry for coming back after having stated , that everything works fine.

Now, I experience that in my origins projekt explorer "window" I do have a preview of the the items listed in the window.
This feature is very nasty. The Preview is that big, that it covers the whole window and I some time before was able to turne it off by setting some system variables. Unfortunatelly, I can´t remeber the exact procedure.

- Could you please provide help for this and
- Does it have to do something with my former X-functin problems?

I also find that now, in script window, all help displays (when you enter a Labtalk command a "message window" opened up which guides you through the options of the command you are using) disappeared.

1. Please check this FAQ page to disable preview in Project Explorer.
https://www.originlab.com/doc/Quick-Help/disable-pe-previews-smart-hints

2. In the script window, select menu Edit:Enable Auto Complete.

Thanks, Yiming

Thanks for quick answer:

I just tried out and have set @PESS = -1; in order to get rid of the preview in explorer .

Now, again the x-function wextract doesn´t work anymore!

Now I returned to Origin and set @PESS = 15; which was the setting before I switches to @PESS=-1.

Still the X-function doesn´t work and Origin closes.

Do I again have to restore my folders?

The preview in PE shouldn't affect the Xfunction. How did you run the Xfunction, can you paste the Labtalk line here? Thanks.

wextract iy:=[Book1]Sheet1!col(A) settings.stAlias.Cols:=1
settings.stAlias.AliasNames:=A
settings.stCondition.Condition:="A<6"
settings.Cols:=1;

Info:
[Book1]Sheet1!col(A) contains numbers 1,2,3,4...10
[Book1]Sheet1!col(B) contains numbers 2,4,6,8...20

It´s the first example given in the help file for X-Function V2025 (local help file not internet version).

This morning I again followed the instructions given in

https://www.originlab.com/doc/en/Quick-Help/System-Folder-Build-Failed
(del -occlean; del –path; neuer Anwenderdateienordner)

and again tested wextract function.

This time I don´t have success. Wextract still can´t operate and causes breakdown of the program.

.

I tried it for another time and now succeeded.
wextract does work when everything is cleaned up from scratch.

To me it seams clear that changing @PESS changes the behaviour of x-function execution.

Sorry for posting again, but...

after I opened up a new user folder yesterday at last the wextract X-function worked and I decided to build up the script for my data. Everything worked as it should.

Coming to office today i started my computer an Origin again and again on execution of wextract X-function Origin closes down.
Sure I could repeat the whole process again but I fear that there must be another reason for the observed instability.

Do you have any ideas what I could check in order to get the program running stable?
