Origin Version (Select Help-->About Origin):7
Operating System:Windows XP

Hello,

I was wondering if anyone knows how to disable the automatic zoom out when I choose to edit a baseline created by the baseline tool.

(details of my troubles below ^^)

I'm used to working with Origin 6.0. In that version, I could create a 500 point baseline for my data. This baseline usually had some errors which I could correct by hitting the "modify" button and moving the cursor onto the misplaced baseline data point. To make sure the baseline point was properly adjusted, I could zoom into the region I wished to adjust and make more a more precise adjustment by hitting the modify button again.

In version 7, I find that any time I hit the modify key, Origin zooms me out of the baseline region I'm looking to correct and sets my cursor at a baseline point in the center of the series. Is there a way to prevent Origin 7 from zooming out and refixing the cursor on a new baseline point when I hit the modify button? I'd greatly appreciate any help in this matter as I'd prefer to use Origin 7 over Origin 6.

Thanks,

Tom

Hi Tom:

When you zoom into the region to adjust your base line, please use the Zoom In button on the Graph tool bar, and do not use the Enlarge button on the Tools tool bar.

Hope it helps

Many thanks for your quick response Larry ^^,

Yes, I did notice that I could zoom into my data using the "zoom in" icon you've suggested.

The problem with this option is that Origin does not redraw the lines connecting my data, the baseline modify squares, or the lines connecting the baseline modify squares (as was the case in Origin version 6 or when I use the "enlarge" icon in Origin 7). Because of the increased size of these lines and icons I am unable to make the fine adjustments I wish to.

I know I could modify my baseline by reassigning the baseline points as a new data set and subsequently moving the baseline data points by using the "Move" command under the "Data" menu. The problem with this option is that I lose the convenience of the "Subtract" and "Undo Subtraction" feature found on "Edit Baseline" of the "Baseline Tool". Working with the subtract feature under the "Analysis" is a lot more cumbersome than just working with the "Edit Baseline" tools (which I could do in Origin Version 6).

Is there a way to patch the "enlarge" feature such that it does not move my cursor onto a new baseline data point and rescale my graph with Origin 7? Is this something I could do in Origin version 7.5?

Thanks,
Tom

Hi Tom:

Sorry that maybe we have no such patch, and the problem is the same in Origin75. We would like to fix this bug in the next build.
