Origin Version (Select Help-->About Origin): 7.5 Operating System: Windows XP
HI, I have a quick question about importing dat files to origin worksheet. If my dat file has a long name, the origin will cut it automatically. For example, I have a file Wj23ingjijjj001.dat, then import it into a worksheet, the worksheet name will become Wj23in only, and the other information, jijjj001 will be lost.
Another question is similar: when I import a file, the file extension will be omitted automatically. However, sometimes I have very important information there.
Does anyone know the solution?
Thank you very much for your help! |

1. The maximum number of characters in a worksheet name is 13. 2. The maximum number of characters in worksheet name + column name is 23. Some of your columns must have very long names. http://www.originlab.com/www/support/resultstech.aspx?ID=1103&language=English

Select Window > Rename and the Both Name and Label option. If you use the Import Wizard you'll see the full file name in the title bar label. If you use Import ASCII you'll see the full file path. If you always want to see the label right-click on the title bar and select Save Template.
