Origin Version (Select Help-->About Origin): 7.5 Operating System:xp
why doesn't this script work? it seems simple enough.
loop (ii,3,wks.ncols) { col(ii)=col(ii)*-1; }; |

It's hard to tell what you want your script to do, but there is one obvious mistake in your use of the col( ) function. The col( ) function accepts names or numbers as arguments, but it does NOT convert a name which is a variable into a number. For that, you should use the wcol( ) function. As written, your loop would repeatedly do something to a column named 'ii', but it isn't clear what you intended to do. (In fact, it would negate the column ii values, but only if there are an odd number of columns in the worksheet. I don't think that is what you intended.)

Actually, I want it to negate the values in each column, starting at column 3 and carrying on until the last column in the worksheet. So, the correct script would be: (??????) loop (ii,3,wks.ncols) { wcol(ii)=wcol(ii)*-1; };
Thanks. Jonathan |
