Origin Version (8):
Operating System:WinXP

How can I get rid of the extra variables in the Statistics on Columns output table?

The output table in DescStatsOnCol sheet has all these variables (columns + column headers) I did not choose in the Statistics on Columns Dialog Box, Quantities to Compute eg. SE of Mean, Variance, Skewness etc. Because of these extra variable columns the table is wery wide and (my) Origin do not let me go the far right end of the table i.e. I can't get to the variables and values I need (eg. percentiles)! Annoying!

We managed to shrink the table a couble of times in a way that it only contained the variables we chose in the Dialog Box but we can't do it again...

Help!

Hi,

Thank you for reporting this issue. We will investigate this.

In the mean time, here is a possible workaround:

On any of the tables in report sheets, such as the Descriptive Statistics table with the Stats on Col output, you can right click on the table name. Then you will see several context menu items. Two of those context menus are:
-> Create copy as new sheet
-> Create transposed copy as new sheet

What these context menu items do is to make a new worksheet with the same content as in the embedded table. In that sheet you an easily scroll, delete columns, make plots from the columns etc.

Hi Riika,

Because a theme (for example, <factory default> or <Last Used>) will be loaded when a dialog opens, some computation options will be selected even though you do not select them yourself. Please make sure to expand the Quantaties to Compute tree and check if the computation options are correctly selected before you click OK in the Statistics on Columns dialog.

Hi!

Thank you Easwar, works perfectly with your tip!

Deanna, is there any way of changing that default theme? And yes, surprisingly enough I really did expand the tree and chose those variables I needed in the table... What do you mean by "computation options"? My Origin only has a list of variables with an adjacent box to tick those you want to calculate, should there be some other options visible?

Cheers!

Hi Riika,

What you are experiencing is a bug in 8SR0 that occurs only with certain regional settings such as French, Finnish etc. We have fixed this bug and an SR1 patch will be available soon for download.
