Origin Version (Select Help-->About Origin): 8 Pro
Operating System: XP Pro

I have a report sheet, say from a linear fit. If I copy the intercept value and paste it as link into a layout, for example, I get the full precision value.

Is there a simple way to choose how many significant digit I want to be displayed ?

Hi,
Could you try the following steps?
1. Double-click the value the pasted in layout and open the Table dialog.
2. Right-click on the cell with your pasted value and select Format Cells from the drop-down list menu.
3. From the drop-down list menu of digit choose Significant Digits=
4. Type the value you want to display in the significant digits text box.
5. Click OK and close the Format Cells dialog.
6. Click the Update Table button in the Table dialog. And then close this dialog.
Then the value with your defined significant digits will be displayed in layout.

Thanks
Fay

Hi,

The thing is it's not the table that was copied but the value, inside some text (easier regarding presentation) so the value appears as:
%([Book1]FitLinear1,@WL,Parameters.Intercept.Value)

Hi,
I am sorry for misunderstanding your meaning. You can use this method to solve your problem. For example, if you want the significant digit equals 3, please change
%([Book1]FitLinear1,@WL,Parameters.Intercept.Value)
into
$(%([Book1]FitLinear1,@WL,Parameters.Intercept.Value), *3)
.

Thanks

Thanks, that's what I needed.
Too bad this notation is far from obvious.
