Hi
i am pramod bharade doing M.Tech in Irrigation Engg.i have 1 output and 5 input data of 300 numbers.i want to see relationship between them and i want to find out eq. which will be suit for this data of 5 input and will give the approriate value as like its output.so please suggest me any proper method to find out surface fit equation for this data.

Thanks

Hello,

Finding the relationship between 1 output and 5 inputs is nontrivial. Such a problem is much depending on the human brain, while the data analysis software can never be so smart to automatically determine the best surface fitting equation for you (but, who knows, maybe someday an incredible guy invents some algorithm to do this?).

So you may want to analyze your data first. Plotting the data in Origin does help you to find out the trend of output for different inputs, if you have enough data. You can also try the multiple regression on your data to see if "the output is linearly proportional to each input" is a good hypothesis (Linear is always the best model that we want to handle).

Some hints only, without knowing any detail of your data.

Leo
