Origin Version (Select Help-->About Origin): Origin 8
Operating System: Windows XP

I want to do Fast Fourier transform (FFT) on data where X points are neither equidistant nor is the number of those points 2^n. Can somebody please tell me how Origin handles such data and what details I have to be careful about?

Specifically, the resolution in X domain is huge (compared to the interesting frequencies) so, in principle, it might be possible to erase some points to obtain equidistant points; if that would improve the results.

I have checked help but didn't learn much about it.

hello,

Good news is that Origin8 supports FFT on number of data point not equaling to 2^n.

In order to get equidistant X, you may want to try "interpolation", this tool can also help you "erase" some points...
