Origin Version (Select Help-->About Origin): 8.0 SR1
Operating System: linux

Hi everyone,

I have a worksheet with multiple y columns, and I was wondering if there was a way to merge these all together. For example, say my original workbook looks like:

x | y1 | y2
1 | 1.2 | 1.5
2 | 2.2 | 2.5
3 | 3.2 | 3.5
4 | 4.2 | 4.5

I want to turn it into:

x | y
1 | 1.2
1 | 1.5
2 | 2.2
2 | 2.5
3 | 3.2
3 | 3.5
4 | 4.2
4 | 4.5

The reason for this is that I want to do a linear regression with all the data taken into consideration, as opposed to getting 2 different curves and two different regressions. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I figured out how to do this: analysis->mathematics->average multiple curves-> the "concatenate" in the method drop down list.

Hi,

Just wanted to point out that you do not necessarily have to concatenate your data prior to fitting.

You can select multiple Y columns in a worksheet, or start from a graph with multiple curves in a layer. then in the Linear Fit tool, you can simply change the "Multi-Data Fit Mode" drop-down to "Concatenate" and all the data will be internally concatenated and then that combined internal data will be fitted.

This option also exists in Nonlinear curve fitter dialog (same named drop-down under Data Selection), and this is a new feature for fitting in O8
