Origin Version (Select Help-->About Origin): OriginPro8 Operating System:XP
Hi,
Could anybody tell me if I can fit Col(A) with a function that depends on Col(B)? For example, I want to find a parameter C for the best fit of Col(A)=C*Col(B)without preliminary fitting of Col(B) with some function. Thank you in advance! |

Hi Elena,
So looks like you want the 2nd col to be treated as the X (indep var) and the 1st col to be treated as y (dep var), correct?
By default, in the worksheet, the first col is set to type X and second to type Y. You can leave those assignments as is. Do not select any column and bring up either the Linear Fit tool, or the Nonlinear fit tool (depending on whether you want a linear fit or a fit with some nonlinear function)
In either tool, you can then expand the data assignment branch, which would be empty, and then assign your desired column as x and y and perform the fit.
In Linear fit tool, click and expand Range1 under Input Data, and then for X and Y edit boxes you can click the arrow key to the right that will show all available columns and you can pick which one you want for X and which one for Y.
In the NLFit dialog, click on Data Selection on the left side list and then on the right side you will see similar controls for Input Data and Range1
If this is not what you wanted, can you provide more info?
