Origin Version (Select Help-->About Origin): 8.0
Operating System: Windows XP

Following script (extract) works for Origin version 6.1 but not for version 8.0 (8G SR 1)

layer.plotxy(Book1_BP,Book1_P,?);

The task is to plot an xy diagram in a layer of an origin template.
The used data set are two columns (BP and P) of a xls-sheet.
Result in Origin V6.1: data from column P is plotted (as y-value) against column BP (as x-value)
Result in Origin V8.0: data from column P is plotted (as y-value) against 1/X

Any help to solve this problem would be very appreciated.

Hi,

This is a bug in Origin8. Thanks for reporting us. It has been trackered as #11495 and will be fixed soon.

Before the bug fixed, I suggest you use x-function plotxy as an replacment. It can be used in this way

plotxy ([Book1]Sheet1!Col(BP), [Book1]Sheet1!Col(P))

Thank you for your reply.

Unfortunately your solution does not work. Error message is:

Failed to resolve range string, VarName = iy, VarValue = [Book1]Sheet1!(Col(BP),Col(P))
Error: Failed to execute script

What to do?

Regards
Jo

Hi,

I assumed that your working workbook is named as Book1, working worksheet is Sheet1 and corresponding shortname of column is BP and P. But according to error message. It looks like it is not the case.

Could you check it and give proper assignment to plotxy?

B.T.W, you can also type "plotxy -h" to get detailed help description

Hello again,

thanks to your hint, by using the correct names of the sheet, it worked roughly. I had to add the commands "ogl" , "rescale" and "plot" in order to assure, that the existing layer of the template has been used in same scale and plot type.
Remaining problem so far: I can't "define" the plotted graph type (the symbol and the colour). The result seems to be at random.

Any ideas?

Regards
Jo
P.S. Next chance for me to work on this will be next Monday...
