Hello,

I have problems with Excel (2003) sheets in OriginPro 8G SR1 v8.0773 (B773):

1. Sometimes my Excel macros don't work in Origin, sometimes they do. I have the same problem in Excel when Origin is open.

2. Sometimes it's not possible to work with an Excel sheet when I jumped to it from an Origin sheet by double clicking on the Excel sheet. I cannot select a cell and the mouse pointer doesn't change to the (Excel)-cross. After I saved the file everything works fine.

3. When I copy values (fit values from a multiple linear regression) in an Origin sheet, I cannot paste them in an Excel sheet. So I try it again an again. After a few times it works.

Thanks for your help.

Philipp

Hi,

last time I got an answer from Deanna (OriginLab Technical Services).
This time I think it's a bug, so anyone should fix the problem and answer my questions please.

Thanks again.

Philipp

Hi, Philipp

1. Do you mean to open an excel with macro in Origin and work with it? I have tried to use DoseResponseCurveFitting.xls in <Origin Intalled folder>\Samples\Automation Server\Excel\ , Launch New Instance of Origin. and it work fine. However, would you mind to send us your problematic excel file? You can send it to tech@originlab.com

2. I am afraid that I can not reproduce this problem. Could you check whether my testing steps is same as your
1) Open an excel file, select Insert: Objects to insert an Origin Graph in excel.
2) Double click the graph to open graph in Origin
3) When Origin is opening, jump to excel and tried to fill some data in the sheet and select some cell in the seet
--> It do work fine

3. Could you try following steps to see whether it works for you?
1) Run multiple regression
2) Go to result sheet. Find Parameters Table, select title Parameters, right click on it and select Copy Table in the context menu
3) Go to excel and paste

Hello Echo,

thanks for your answer. Unfortunately you misunderstood me. So here's a more detailed description of my problems:

1. Excel is open as well as Origin. I have macros in my personal workbook in Excel, so I can use them in any Excelfile. We won't work with Excel in the following steps!!! It's just important, that the application is running. In my Origin file I have both, Origin sheets and Excel sheets. When I select an Excel sheet (in Origin) sometimes my macros work, sometimes they don't. When they don't work, I have to close Excel and Origin. After I reopened Origin, my macros work (in Origin).

2. Origin is open. In my Origin file I have both, Origin sheets and Excel sheets. When the Origin sheet is selected, I can switch to the Excel sheet by double clicking on it in the project explorer. I see the Excel sheet (in Origin) now but sometimes it's not possible to work with it. I cannot select a cell or scroll down etc. When I save the Origin file everything works fine.

3. Origin is open. In my Origin file I have both, Origin sheets and Excel sheets. In the Origin sheet I perform a multiple linear regression, so I get fit values. I copy these values (STRG+C), switch to the Excel sheet (in Origin) an try to paste the values but it doesn't work. I have to repeat these steps a couple of times before it finaly works.
According to your solution: I don't want to copy the whole table, just a few values.

I hope, I've been more precisely this time.

Thanks

Philipp

Hi, Philipp

1. Would you mind to share us your macros and let us reproduce your problem.

2. It looks that I can reproduce now. A dialog pops up after Origin freezes, it saids "Origin is unable to communicate with Excel at this time due to Excel's busy state. If you are currently editing a cell, please click outside the cell after closing this message box and retry"
Is it the same case you met?

3. I am sorry that I still can not reproduce it. Will you met this problem everytime when you copy/paste value from report table?
