Origin Version (Select Help-->About Origin): 8.0 Operating System: Vista
Hi all,
I have a problem. I need to calculate the full width at half maximum (FWHM) of a peak of a dataset. I can not figure out how to perform this in origin. I have searched the forum and ended up downloading the peak analysis tool, which doesnt seem to work.
Does anyone have a suggestion?

Hi,
You can do this in multiple ways:
1> If you have just one peak and no baseline (baseline=0), then you can select the column or make graph of column, and then go to the script window and type integ1 This is an X-Function that will take the raw data, assume a normal distribution, and computed quantities including FWHM which is reported as dx.
2> If more than one peak and want to also define baseline etc, you can use the Analysis->Spectroscopy->Baseline and Peaks menu item and in the wizard that opens walk thru pages to define the range for integration, the baseline etc. This feature will be much improved in the upcoming (free) SR2 service release
3> You can also fit your data with Gaussian function, and in the fit report one of the "derived parameters" is FWHM. This FWHM will then be based on the fit curve.

Thank you for your reply.
I actually spend several hours to get your method 2> to work. I finally got some FWHM values out from the integration report.
