Origin Ver.8 and SR2 (Select Help-->About Origin): Operating System:
Hello,
I would like to plot data with the following structure in a ternary diagram. I've plenty data sets of mixtures consisting of three components a, b, c that are characterized by one property value z. Is there a way to plot this kind of data in a color coded ternary diagram using Origin 8. Does somebody know of an add-on modul for this?
With kind regards Tobias Henkel |

Did you ever ger any help? On workaround can be found by using a polar plot, however you will have to draw the axis' by hand.
Lets say you have a, b, c concentrations and z as a property. You can transform the (a, b, c) in polar coordinates (r, theta) by: r= sqrt((a-b)^2+c^2), and theta = (180/Pi)*atan((a-b)/c) - here you will loose the point with theta = -90 and + 90 degrees, but you can correct that by either writing a script or generating the data in Excel for example.
Then you just select the r(X) theta(Y) Z polar contour and the basic graph is done. You can now delete all the axis you do not need and draw the right ones by hand
hope this helps, it helped me anyway A |
