Origin Ver. and Service Release (Select Help-->About Origin): OriginPro 8 SR4 Operating System: Win XP
Hello.
I wonder how to add a baseline simply, like "y=0". In 7.5, it was possible to add a baseline by "Tools -> Baseline -> (user defined equation) y=0". However, I can't find the same method in 8.0.
Menus in Analysis are very complicating, which work with fit peaks, and sometimes don't work.
Thanks. Hoyoung. |

Hi phics,
OriginPro 8 offers a tool called Peak Analyzer which has the ability to create baseline. Peak Analyzer is a wizard that offers an intuitive and interactive interface to walk you through the steps of advanced peak analysis. Peak Analyzer allows you to create a constant baseline if you select Integrate peaks, Find Peaks or Fit Peaks as a goal. After you selected the goal (such as selecting Fit Peaks), you can click next button to the Baseline Mode page. In this Page, Origin offers several ways to create baseline, like constant, User Defined, Use Existing Dataset, etc. The following image is an example to show how to create a constant baseline.

Dear VincentLiu,
Thank you for your kindness.
However, I can't still create baseline. With PeakAnalyzer, I could reach the same state with your uploaded image. But sometimes it works, sometimes not.
I think in the case of the data is a kind of peak shape, it's OK. But if the data is not a kind of peak, like just a step, or just an increasing function, it's usually not OK.
Sometimes I got a message like "pa_basemode:X-Function failed to execute! Failed to get data from XYRange" when click "next". Then neither next nor finish can't be clicked.
I can solve the problem by adding a constant number dataset, but I wonder if there is another solution.
Thank you.

Hi phics,
I've tried several datasets which hasn't had a peak. But I can create the constant baseline without the erro message. So could you send you data to us and tell us which steps you have performed? You can send the data through
http://www.originlab.com/www/company/qform.aspx?s=1&
Thank you very much for helping us to reproduce this problem.
Best regards, Vincent Liu OriginLab Technical Services
