Origin 7.5 and SR6
Operating System: XP

I would like the x values of my matrix to range from 1e15 to 1e20. how do I get the x values to be logarithmic instead of linearly distributed between the beginning and the end values.

Thanks

Hi,

The matrix sheet does not support log scale for X or Y in version 7.5 or 8.0

If you have data in raw XYZ format, which needs a log scale representation for X or Y, version 8 supports plotting the data directly into a contour plot using triangulation, without creating an intermediate matrix. Then the contour plot directly generated from XYZ can then be set to have log scale for X or Y. You can try this with the Origin 8 demo which you can download from the website.

If your data is already in matrix form, Origin 8 also allows converting it back to XYZ and you could then plot it as a direct-contour and set your axes to log.

thanks. Looks like there are some reasons to upgrade.
