Hallo,

is there any possibility to set a unit for derived parameters when I'm fitting? It would be nice to say: "28.3 meV" ...

I guess Origin is working similar to many other scientific softwares: the sosftware calculates on numbers only without understanding "physical" meaning of these numbers. You can explicitly specify the unit in worksheet "unit" row, but Origin will not derive the unit for fitted parameters.

Therefore it is necessary to keep all the numbers with consistent unit system, e.g. SI unit.

it's quite plain to me that origin can't derive units. but I don't want origin to derive, I want to set the units like: origin gives me a derived number --> "number+units" --> output. the specification of the units in worksheets isn't enough for me. this would not appear in fit tables...

Hi Torsten,

Since all the values in Parameters table are designed to be numeric, it is not easy/convenient to add another string text inside those cells.

We might add a new section in FDF so that you can edit the units for derived parameters in Function Organizer.

And we would add a new column "Unit" in the Parameters table so that user's input can go directly into the report table, like:


	Unit	Value	Standard Error
y0		5.34198    0.58341
xc		24.9069    0.08666
w		10.16969   0.20452
A		984.90204  21.45075
sigma	cm	5.08485	
FWHM	mm	11.9739	
Height	km	77.27256
