Origin Ver. and Service Release (Select Help-->About Origin): 7.5
Operating System:windows XP
I want to add a line perpendicular to the X-axis to a window.
so I create a worksheet with X equal to a fixed value, second column Y equal to 0.1, third column of the worksheet is Y error with a very big value like 1000000.

then I insert to curve (Y and Y error) to one window but the curve doesn't appear in it.

is there any explaination for this? Thank you.

completely new user of Origin. Any help will be appreciated.

Hi,

Try resizing the window to see if it appears, in case it is some drawing problem?

If you just want vertical lines, you could also try adding vertical drop-lines to your symbol plot. Double click on the symbol to open Plot Details dialog and then on the right side select Drop Lines tab and check the Vertical check box. This will of course only draw lines from the symbol to the x axis, not all the way across the layer.

Hi, thank you.
I've resolved the problem by changing y value from 0.1 to 0.2(my range in y 0.1 to 1000000 in log scale)
it's strange but it works. (when y=0.1, the line dissappear...)
if someone can give some reason...

your method is good, but my case is to draw one vertical line at a particular x value I want.

Hi,

In 7.5 and 8.0 with log scale there was a bug with error bar not plotting properly when the lower end (yvalue-error) is a negative number. We have fixed this in latest version, 8.1SR1 and in this version the bar will draw to the layer border. So you can download 8.1SR1 demo and try.
