 How to calculate power density

I'm using OriginPro 8.1 (student version) in a windows xp operating system for the first time.

I'm trying to calculate the power density from measured roughness profile data.

What I've tried/understand so far:

1. The data is already in a workbook, the columns (x,y) are selected
2. I go to Analysis > Signal Processing > FFT > FFT. A new window opens ("Signal Processing\FFT:fft1")
I've different options for checking boxes. Am I already in the "power density mode"? So I just check the options I'm preferring and which plot I want. Is this correct?

Power Density is a scalar quantity calculated by various formula, but perhaps you want Power Spectral Density or simply Power Spectrum which is calculated with our FFT tool. The FFT dialog (fft1) tool has Plot branch with a number of output plot selections. These check boxes also determine what FFT datasets are created. Choosing either Power/Phase or Power will cause Origin to calculate the Power Spectrum. Note that Power Spectrum is the square of Amplitude over 2 except for the DC component which is twice that.
