I have some data points on a scatter graph that I want do a line of best fit on. I'm doing Analysis->Fitting->Fit Linear and I get the required line solely within the range of my data points. However I need to extend this line in one direction - I think the proper term is extrapolate. This is very easy to do on Excel by just typing a number into the 'forecast' box. However I've spent quite a while trying to figure how to get Origin to do it, with no luck. Does anyone know how to do this?

For Origin8.1, in the Linear Fit dialog, expand the tree node Fitted Curves Plot: X Data Type. Select Custom from Range combo box. You can define your desired minimum and maximum of the range in Min and Max edit boxes.
