Hi,
I need to know what is the maximum number of data points Origin can handle.
I have to analyse a file, which contains roughly 2 millions of [x,y] data.
Is it possible with Origin? (I use 4.10)

post the answer please directly to my E-mail account.

thanks for the help

Reply: maximum number of data points

Steve,

You do not state if you are using the 16 or 32-bit version of Origin.
If you are using the 16-bit version, you will be able to work with
two million or more data points in Origin and graph them. The number of
points is controlled by the amount of resources that your computer has
available. However, in the 16-bit version of the software you will only
be able to scroll through the first 32K rows. You can select View: GOTO
Row to look at data beyond this point.

As far as analysis goes, different analysis routines use different
amounts of your computer's resources. I was able to rapidly calculate
Statistics on Columns on one million points. To do a Non Linear fit would
take more resources but is possible.

I will follow up by stating that there is no set limit to the
number of points in a dataset. The actual number will vary computer
to computer depending on the computer's memory, and operating system.
