Why is it not possible to name a worksheet-window "name.ext"?
Origin 5.0 reduces the name to "nameext".

It works with plot-windows and it worked in Origin 4.1
with both types of windows.

Is there a bugfix for this or does anybody know a workaround?

thanks a lot

re: Dataset names

Origin 5.0 does not allow dots (i.e., name.ext) within worksheet nor column names
since it interferes with the object.property convention of the LabTalk programming
language. Origin 4.1 actually allowed dots in dataset names which ended up causing
problems executing certain functions within an Origin project that contained such
dataset names. Therefore as a means to avoid such interference Origin 5.0 does not allow
dots in dataset names.  Alternatively one can use the Worksheet Label (and Column
Label) functions.  Within a Worksheet Label or Column Label one can use any
non-alphanumeric character and one can also set the Worksheet/Column labels only to appear.

To edit the Worksheet Label (Rename dialog box):

•Right click on Worksheet: Rename... •Select Window:Rename

To edit the Column Label (Worksheet Column Format dialog box):

•Double-Click on a Column Name •Highlight a column and select Format:Column from the main menu •Right-Click on a Column Name and select Properties from the context menu
