Origin Ver. and Service Release (Select Help-->About Origin):
Operating System:

Hi,

I am new to Origin. I have been researching ways so that I can remove the background noise from my Raman Spectra, and then smooth out the graph. So far I have been able to smooth out the graph, but not remove the background noise.

I am running version 7.5. I'm wondering if anyone can help me with this?

Thanks

GioFernando

Hi,

I'm not familiar with your field, I suppose you can use the Origin's Smoothing feature ("Analysis: Signal Processing: Smooth" menu in Origin 8.5; Should be different from 7.5). Then, you can choose a method from among Savitzky-Golay, Adjacent-Averaging, Percentile Filter, and FFT Filter. Also, in OriginPro 8.5 has the Wavelet Denoise tool ("Analysis: Signal Processing: Wavelet: Denoise" menu.)

Perhaps you want to subtract baseline before smoothing
