Origin Ver. and Service Release (Select Help-->About Origin):
Operating System: Origin 8.0724 (B724)

I have a problem with saving my project. It takes several minutes, even though the file is only around 13MB. There is a lot of coloums that calls a script, which is set to calculate manual. I also tried to set auto update to off before saving.

I have search the forum, and it seems others have reported the same problem, but I couldn't find a solution.

There are a lot of books (around 100) and sheets (around 150), but there is not a lot of data in each book.

How do I make origin save my project faster?

Dear Anders Berthelsen,

Could you please send the file to the Tech Support by FTP with the following settings so that OriginLab can look at it?

Host Name: ftp.originlab.com
Host Type: automatic detect
Login: anonymous
Password: your email address

When you complete sending it, please send a quick message to tech@originlab.com with ATTN.Hideo. Also, at the same time, let me know the following information:
- Opearting System (e.g., Windows7)
- CPU (e.g., Pentium4 2.4GHz)
- RAM (e.g. 2GB)
- Origin Program Folder Location (e.g., C:\Program Files\OriginLab\Origin81\)
- User Files Folder Location (e.g., C:\Documents and Settings\myName\my documents\OriginLab\Origin85\User Files\)
(Please tell us whether any Origin files are located on a remote location like in a network drive, or on a device like a USB drive.)

Thank you for your cooperation.

I also have problems when handling a large set of data.

I had a worksheet with a few columns of data. Later on I inserted a column with 200K rows of data. Then origin responded slowly even ofter restarted. After that even I have deleted that column of data, there are still 200k empty rows exist and Origin doesn't respond if I try to select and hide all empty rows at a time. How should I resolve this problem?

Btw is there a setting to automatically hide empty rows? Thanks in advance.

It works now. I should use 'delete' instead of 'hide' rows.

Just for readers of this thread:

The problem of slow saving in Origin 8.0 Anders pointed out has been already addressed and resolved in Origin 8.5/8.5.1. If someone has similar problem, I suggest to try the evaluation version of Origin to see if your problem matches to this case.
