Hi guys,
I am facing a problem to convert the uniformly spaced data to matrix. I read this topic:

Per the suggestion of Laurie, I completed the conversion from worksheet to XYZ successfully with the help of script. Afterward, I tried to use ¡°Convert worksheet to matrix ¨C XYZ gridding ¨C Random (Renka Cline)¡±.
The problem is the data shown on the converted matrix looks very weird. For instance, all the data in my worksheet were positive, but some of data shown on the matrix were negative values. I think there were something wrong during the conversion but I don¡¯t know what happened.
I also tried the method of Random (Thin Plate Spline), but it said ¡°The method is not suitable for large dataset¡±.
Another question is: for the color filled contour, is that possible to change the scale type of axis from linear to log?

Hi Dash,
Since Origin version 8.5, Origin can make a contour plot from such "virtual matrix" directly.

To do this, you can highlight all worksheet cells (left-click the corner cell between "Long Name" and "A(X)"), then choose the Plot menu.

P.S. You can change the axis scale of the contour plot to Log10 scale from the Axis dialog box ("Format: Axis" menu). |

However, I use Origin 8.0, does it possible to do that.
Regarding of the axis scale, I found the selection for the change from linear to log10 is unavailable (It is grey). That is why I don't know how to do that.
I appreciate that.

Hi Dash,
I thought if your data is truly equally spaced, you can apply the "Direct Worksheet to Matrix Conversion" method to the data body (excluding 1st row and 1st column), then remap; However, it your X data (6.04, 6.98, 8.06,...) is really not equi-spaced. So, sorry, but I don't have much to say. Also, regarding the log scale for contour plots, it seems your old Origin version has the limitation before improved later.
